How do I fix the dots from scans of printed material?

372 views4 repliesLast post: 7/30/2005
I'm scanning in a letter-sized, screen-printed brochure that I need to put up on our web site, and have lines/dots visible from the print process. It's a low-contrast, lots of detail brochure. How can I best fix those for a computer screen image?

All help and suggestions gratefully received.

The word your looking for is 'descreening'. Hundreds of opinions and manuals on how to dump it.
google descreening or moire.
Or use your scanner manual. It also should cover descreening.

Your scanner should have a "descreening" option somewhere in the scanner software's settings. That's probably your best bet.

Thanks, Tacit. There was indeed a descreen command in my HP Director software - had to hunt for it, but there it was, and it works well. Thanks again.
