ERROR Msg- "could not complete the print command because of a disk error"

Hello, to the More-Knowledgeabnle:
Am running Photoshop 5.5 on Win/XP-Pro
Attempted to print an open window of a small-sized -.JPG file which had just been read from the hard-drive.
Received the following message....
"could not complete the print command because of a disk error" Tried to print several other files with the same error resulting. Have done image editing with this version on this system before, but this was the first attempt to print from it.
Photoshop works well, otherwise.
Opened the -.JPG file in another program and printed OK, but would prefer to use Photoshop.

Searched for the error message text on the net and found a reference to a fix at ... < http://www.adobe.com/supportservice/custsupport/LIBRARY/52fe .htm> BUT that page seems to not currently exist.

Searched for the error message text on the fourm and found nothing.

Any help appreciated.

I experienced exactly the same thing when I changed over to XP. Damned frustrating isn't it ?!! I found that opening the file in 5.5 then re-saving it (perhaps with a slightly different name)THEN printing had some success. Otherwise I had to open files in 6.0 and they printed straight away. Obviously some quirk between 5.5 and XP

I don't know if this is relevant to your problem, but my Epson Photo EX printer (on USB port) wants to be switched on before the computer (Win 2K Pro) is started, or else a print error occurs. Also, install the latest Win XP driver update for your printer.

When logging into the workstation as Administrator, printing is not an issue. When logging in as a power user and attempting to print, I receive the same error message and am not able to print.

This problem is still an issue for me since I need to associate groups as power users and not Administrators of the workstation. I'm running a Novell 6 server with policy packages set up along with dynamic local user and XP clients. Also use iPrint with the latest XP driver for an HP printer. I have Photoshop 5.5 installed locally on the clients. Any suggestions...anyone??

Hugh,

You need permissions to access the Kodak ICM files. (IIRC the folder was called KPCMS) Logging in as Administrator will cure the problem
