Video mode changes

When I launch Photoshop, Windows XP changes the video mode to 256 colors. Now I have CS version, but happened with version 7 too. While Photoshop is in execution, I manually reset the video mode to 16 million colors, and than everything works ok.
Perhaps it’s just a stupid option… but I don’t know.

This should not be happening. Photoshop itself doesn’t like and I don’t think will even work well in 256 color mode. I think you have something else going on that is causing this switching of color depth for your video card. Make sure you have the latest drivers also.
