Greetings all,

When using many of the out of the box "Frames" Actions in CS, a message appears at a specific step saying: "The command "blah blah" is not currently available" and so the action doesn’t complete.

For example, when running the "Strokes Frame" the message is: "The command "make" is not currently available". In the case of the Strokes Frame message, it appears the image I was using (about 190px x 100px) was too small.

The commands vary from Action to action, so is there a place that documents the requirements of each action or is it purely trial and error?

Any comments appreciated.

Try this…

Duplicate the image you want framed, then Layer > Flatten Image. Then apply the action to the flattened duplicate. 99% of the time that will take care of this problem. (As a general rule, duplicating the target image and applying the action to the dup is a good idea. That way if things go terribly wrong (and sometimes they do), your original is untouched.)

re: is there a place that documents the requirements of each action Not unless the action spells it out in the form of a message.

re: is it purely trial and error?
Pretty much. The more you play actions and diagnose the problems, the better you’ll get at it.
