PS7 doesn’t save PNG alpha

Hello.
Why is it that when I save my picture as PNG the alpha channel shows up just white after I reload the image? I’m trying to make some emoticons. Sorry if this is a FAQ, but there was no FAQ-list to be found ;P

Save as png 24 with transparency checked to get alpha. However, png has spotty browser support and I don’t know if alpha is supported at all. Gif with transparency checked is your best bet.
