save to tif is cropping when printed

Something is missing from the equation. Saving as Tiff should NOT resize, clip or anything else AFAIK.

What size is your image? Are you resizing it?

when I open the tif it shows the black border but when i print it, it has been clipped.

What black border? Are you putting a border in? We need more info to help.

Peace,

The psd file has a .25 black border that is part of the file. It is a 4" x 4" 300 ppi .psd file with a .25 black border that is a layer in the file. I just go to save as a tif with not options checked or anything and get the warning at the bottom that says some of the codument's data will not be saved using the chosen format and options...

Then I save for IBM and do not check compression. When I go to print I get "the image is larger than the papaer and printable area. Some clipping will occur..."

Why, as the file is not physically that large.

Thanks for any help!!!

What are your Print Options? What size paper are you set to print on?

it is pretty standard scale to fit media

That sounds like the prob.

Don't "scale" anything with print settings.

Simply print your 4x4" image on 8.5x11" paper.

Mac's right. Remember, photoshop isn't like a page layout program, so you have to think about things differently than you do in one of those apps. Simply define your image size as step one, then step two is to define your media size (through the printer properities). Don't try to tell Photoshop you are printing on a 4x4 piece of paper unless you really are.

And if you ARE printing on 4x4 paper, then you need to account for the printers margins.
