Is there any way to tell Photoshop to stop adding a "copy" suffix to saved filenames when they’re being saved "as a copy"?

R___.S___.D_____. forgot that "Save Copy" FLATTENS just for the copy, while "Save As" requires flattening before several formats are available. Kirk Splaat

It is about the .copy suffix.

Exactly, which made RSD’s answer immaterial as well as requiring extra steps to save a COPY!

Takes only a minute to strip off the _copy (btw – it’s not a suffix as it’s "_copy" not ".copy")

Actually, that is not quite right. "_copy" is just as much of a suffix as what ".copy" would be. A suffix is basically an object tagged on the end of a word. If you want a bracket after each letter, eg. a) b) c), then the bracket is acting as a suffix.

More like a second, but that’s still far too long if you have to do it over and over again all day long. It doesn’t happen in CS by the way, at least not on my Mac.
