where are photoshop actions saved to

where are photoshop actions saved to...i mean the ones that we do ourselves .. if we look in the photoshop actions folder only the default actions are there . how are we supposed to upgrade if we lose all the actions when we do

On the Actions Palette dropdown >Save Actions...

You can save them anywhere you want. Make a folder and navigate to it when you make and save your actions. Or save them in the default folder.

If you do not save them yourself through the Actions palette flyout (Save Actions)they reside in a .psp (Action Palette Preferences) file. I would suggest you save them "manually" to the Presets folder and also back them up to another location on your hard drive.
