Can anyone tell me how to make a nice looking
Spiral in Photoshop?
I just need to go around about 3 times.
Drawing it by hand doesn't look so hot.
Thanks,
Andrew

There should be one in your Custom Shapes tool. On mine, it's in the custom shape file called "All." I think is came with Photoshop, but then I've downloaded hundreds of custom shapes from the Adobe Exchange (
http://share.studio.adobe.com/)

There is a spiral shape in the Custom Shapes. Or, it could be done by making a line and applying Filter>Distort>Twirl and erasing half of the spiral, but I would use the Spiral Tool in Freehand. Illustrator may have something similar.

Nope. Ain't got that shape. :(
There was a nice pair of "feet", however. :)
If you're feeling generous, maybe you could email it to me.

What version of Photoshop? Do you have all the Shapes loaded?

Unfortunately, Custom Shapes in 7 and 8 are not backward compatible to 6.

Try this:
First open a new file at about the desired size and with the pencil tool draw a line from the center of the canvas to the edge, holding down the shift key to keep it straight. Then go to Filter>Distort>Twirl and run the slider all the way to one or the other side. Apply this and it will give you a nice spiral. When I did this I got a line that was dotted, so I selected the line and stroked it , which turned it to a solid line. My original line was 10 pixels wide and the stroke was 15 pixels. When selecting the line I used the magic wand and then Select>Similar to get the whole line. My original new file was about 6 X 6 inches. Once you have the spiral you can copy it and paste it as a layer and resize it at will.

Interesting. I tried what you said except I set the brush size to 9 pixels and then used the pencil tool. The resulting spiral was not dotted. Cool trick.
