how to view selection size?

In CS2 and in Photoshop Elements 6, I am trying to determine how to get PS to display the dimensional size (in pixels: H x W) of a selection *while* creating/dragging the selection. I am relatively novice user of PS, and I've just assumed it would have this capability, but have not been able to find it. If it does not, can anyone suggest a technique or workaround to accomplish the same result?

thanks

10 years ago or more I had an old Logitech scanner and its bundled program let me do this. But sadly this function is not available in PS. After you release your selection you will be shown the size. But not while doing the selection.

I hope someone can prove me wrong (again).

Note: virtually all my files are camera RAW so I am doing my crop in Bridge. As soon as I finish dragging and release the mouse button it tells me the pixel dimensions of the selection. I too wish it would show the dims in real time *while* dragging as you asked.

....

The selection size is in the info palette for both Photoshop and Elements.

That's F8 on mine.

Thanks! The palette was not in the bin by default, so I overlooked it.
