Save up for a Wacom Graphire. All the other will work but have, comparatively, terrible build quality and you'll find they won't last too long before you have to buy another one.

Though someone recently posted a positive review of their Aiptek, most users of "other" tablets either quit using them, or finally go to Wacom. Have you looked at the Wacom "refurb" tablets on www.wacom.com? I agree with Hecate, that the Wacom is the way to go. Why not buy your last tablet first? I understand budgets, but is it good fiscal practice to buy up to what you " really" need?

What about the VAT? Can you avoid it for a gift? I can buy a 20D in Australia for $2460 AUD. Do your sums, if you can see buying it here and getting it as a gift, is cheaper than buying it in the UK... My company has the facilities to buy one for you and 'give' it to you.
