Best PC Hardware for use with Photoshop & Other Web/Graphic/Video applications

Hey all,

I am about to upgrade my current pC from AMDK7 1000mhz, 792MB RAM, Matrox G450 32MB to a AMDK73000, 1GIG DDR RAM, Matrox P75064MB Video Card.

Just wondering what other people thoughts are at the moment on PC Hardware for this industry / these applications at present. I hear DDR2 is just around the corner. Should I wait?

At present when working on peices that are about 300DPI, it can become very delayish in Photoshop.

Any help ideas would be great.

Running PS CS, Homesite and Delphi
simultaneously seems fairly fast on
my machine, even with large files:

1GB,DDR,266MHz
80GB Ultra ATA Hard Drive
64MB DDR NVIDIA GeForce4

you can also tweak PS's memory settings.
to minimize scratch disk usage.
