PS
This is not in my backyard but half way on the morning walk. They (12 of them, 2 new born's included) are members of the community and someone else, also up in the mornings as early as we are, started feeding them. We joined, but keep on being careful, because they are nasty, look at those faces:-)
Waiting for the food in the mornings, but the rooster was attacked, same as the cats (kittens?) which must always be on the run, not to become part of the main menu:-)

Totally right:-) I decided to leave it like it is
because it left a tone I liked.

Try Unsharp Mask, pass using a very small radius - .5 or so, with 100 or more percent. Another alternative to the luminosity fade is to convert to Lab and sharpen only the Lightness channel.

Hi Dave -

it is a very nice foto but obviously over processed.
Sharpening is too strong and my impression is it contains a lot of noise. I would take the original and at first denoise weakly and carefully. Then sharpen in the brightness channel of the Lab mode - again not too much.

Mongooses are not ferrets, but in their own family, Herpestidae http://www.fortheanimals.com/Mongoose%20Family.htm

Ferrets are not members of the rodent family, nor are they related to the opossum, raccoon or mongoose.

Mongooses, of which there are many different varieties. are in the same family as the Meerkats. But I tend to think Meerkats are more a type of groups animals, and they are very social within their own group.

*I sharpened none of them*, (the other photos in the same dir are sharpened of course) and I exprerimented with what you said about tha alternative in Lab with sharpening only on Lightness Channel, and I like it. Thanks.

If anybody can make any use of this Mongoos photos for whatever reason, feel welcome to copy it. Or even ask for higher value versions:-)

Thanks Udo. Like you said, it is obviously over processed. As I said to Mike, I posted a few with no sharpening at all. Also thanks for the Lab mode idea. I tried it and know
