Hi,

I have some trouble when printing on a DIN A4-size paper, this is a german size similar to US LETTER. I chose DINA4 as the document size, but when printing I always get the message "The borders are out of the printable area, so the outer borders of the document will be cut" (Bad translation, I’m sorry).
One might think that chosing the size of the paper as document size should work :-((

How can I fix this? Does it depend on the printer? I think I need to find out how big the printable area is (or how big the non-printable borders are) and create a new own document size. But how? I just want that the very outer pixels of my document are printable!

Thank you very much for any advice!
Nico

Photoshop nearly always says that. Cause when you think of it, it is out of range because PS recognizes the entire canvas/page as image. It’s probably OK, provided you really don’t have any information you need printed near the outside edges. Have you tried actually printing?
It’s generally easier to see what’s going on if you select the ‘Print With Preview’ function.
Just remember that with Photoshop, your whole page size is image, so far as the application is concerned. That’s why it’s called Canvas Size and not Page Size.

Nico,

dasselbe Problem habe ich als Laie auch oft.
Eine Abhilfe: Datei – Druckoptionen – Auf Mediengröße skalieren.

Hello,

yes, indeed it depends on the printer. You probably have a Din A4 Printer. Most printers need some room around the printable area in order to "grab" the paper: – 1-2cm. But there are printers on the market which can print without any borders (mostly used for photo printing).

Which Version of Photoshop have you got? Under CS there is the Option: File
Print with Preview. Then Check "Scale to fit Media". You should get about
95%.

Or have your File printed on a A3 printer and then cut.

Anders geht es nicht auf ‘nem normalen Drucker,
viel Glück,
Christiane
