How to load Premiere Pro fonts in PS 6?

Hello,

I’m creating DVD menu backgrounds for use in Encore, and finding interesting fonts that display well on a TV screen at a small size is a challenge. I was recently creating an intro clip for a DVD using Premiere Pro, and I really like one of the fonts Premiere’s titler has available (Adobe Caslon Pro).

The help files for PS 6 say the following:

“In addition to the fonts installed on your system, Photoshop uses font files in these local folders:

Windows: Program Files/Common Files/ Adobe/Fonts
Mac OS: System Folder/Application Support/ Adobe/Fonts

If you install a Type 1, TrueType, OpenType, or CID font into the local Fonts folder, the font appears in Adobe applications only.”

I’m using Windows XP, all four styles of ACaslonPro are located in the common files folder, and it is an OpenType font. However, when I’m using the type tool in PS 6, it doesn’t appear in Photoshop’s font list. I also tried copying the font to my windows font folder and rebooted the machine… still not in the font list.

Is it possible that this font that’s included with Premiere Pro is incompatible with Photoshop 6? Or is there something else I need to do in order to load the font into Photoshop?

Thanks.

copy the font file to your windows font folder and PS should pick it up the next time you open PS.

Mike,

V.6 certainly didn't have full OpenType font support and may not have supported OpenType fonts at all.
