Hi –

I recently installes a load of new fonts on my system – that all went fine – until I tried to use Arial in Photoshop. For some reason, when I select Arial, it shows up as a different font! It works fin in Illustrator, XaraX and so on, but not in Photoshop. The REALLY strange thing is that when I select bold/italic etc. the bold/italic versions of Arial get used, so it’s only on the Arial regular.

I’ve tried reinstalling the Arial fontset – same problem… I’ve checked in the control panel (font viewer thing) and that all seems correct… can anybody shed any light or help?

Thanks, in advance,

Tobyboy.

load of new fonts

How many is a "load"?
If you have more than a couple of hundred total, you may be giving your system some problems. There may be a bad font. Did they come from a reputable source? Adding a few at a time is generally prudent.
You could try deleting all the AdobeFnt*.lst files that you can find.

search for and delete all copies of adobefnt*.lst on your system (they’ll be rebuilt). the font list will regenerate next time you start photoshop.
