Photoshop 7.01 within Linux (with new WINE releases)

Hi,

is anyone around here about to gather experiences using Adobe Photoshop_v7 (Windows version) from within Linux, using WINE?

If so, I'd be very interested in reading what you can share. Are all of Photoshops Features supported?
and
How fast is it - when compared to a Win installation on the very same machine?

(Only recently, the commercial software WINE was released in versions that makes this possible. WINE makes executable code which was written and compiled for Windows32 executable from within Linux.

other Win32 software that is said to be usable from within Linux is e.g. most of Office XP and a number of games.)

Regards,
Fred

Wine, otherwise known as whine <g>, will enable you to do this. Just been having an interesting conversation about it on another newsgroup. it's fine if your files aren't too big and your operations aren't too complex. Otherwise you'll find out why it;'s Otherwise known as whine. ;-)

Hi Hecate,
thank you for your response.

What is the name of the newsgroup in which you have been discussing how Photoshop runs in Linux, using WINE?

Thanks, Fred

BTW: This is crossposted, and in my first posting I forgot to decide upon a group to set a followup-to to. This I have done now; I've set a Followup-To: alt.graphics.photoshop.
