Go to the Adobe Studio Exchange site and look for a plug-in named "Color Temperature Correct."

Hi RSD99

How does one go about using/installing/importing dowloaded actions?

Curves, Levels, Color Balance, or the Photo Filter adjustment...

You should be able to use the "Load" command from the Actions palette menu.

You can use curves, but the curves themselves are a little tricky. You may download canned curves to accomplish this at
http://www.curvemeister.com/tutorials/what_ails_you/index.ht m . These may work right out of the box, or you may need to adjust them a bit to suit your camera and shooting conditions.

One very accurate way to do this, if you are on windows, is to use the curvemeister demo to generate a set of curves that accomodate your particular camera. The procedure involves photographing the same scene with your camera set for daylight and indoor lighting, then using Curvemeister to "extract" a curve from the difference between the two images. This may all be done using the curvemeister demo, saving curve files from the demo version and use them in Photoshop to convert your images. http://www.curvemeister.com/tutorials/CurveExtraction/index. html .

I'll settle for the Color Balance. The others are not required.

Is the Photo Filter available in PS6 (which is what I'm still using !) or is it a later feature ?

Thanks

Select the eye dropper and click somewhere in the image that should have been grey. Make a new layer and fill it with the color you just selected. Invert the layer. Set the layer blending mode to 'Color' and lower the opacity to about 25%.

Thank you Odysseus

I thought it may have been something easy that I was overlooking

The downloaded action worked a treat - fantastic bit of kit as well

Kind regards to you Zeus and the rest of the odessy

For quick results - not as good as the Curvemeister method though - try color balance on a layer of its own with these default values -25 0 45 and adjust.
For series of corrections, it is advisable to write a script of actions including one such layer (color balance with this setting or adjusted) and use automate.
