The installer file should have opened up into a folder(more than likely on your desktop) which you can stop there. Going into that folder you will find setup which you can click on to install CS3.

Is this your first 30days at using CS3? it will not allow you a second go.

Have you tried Winbootstrapper to remove remnants of beta version plus other bits, which comes with PS or downloaded from Adobe.

Did a virus checker stop some of the information loading on your computer?

Adobe place information on your HDD which is deeper that what you read, this is in the low level of your drive. (thats where the activation information is.) To clear your drive completely you need a low level format (not recommended) Last resort type stuff.

Also try and run
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301

Lastly you could buy a copy and let Adobe sort out the problem.

I’ve already used windows cleanup. I’ve already tried with antivirus off and also firewall off. I’ve removed deeply into the windows register any evidence of adobe product but seems not to be enough. It’s hard to understand where information are stored in the system.
I’ve tried to launch winbootstrapper but it responds with a message: please install adobe setup with setup.exe, then exits.

Thanks

Its stored in a section of the HDD that you don’t normally have access to. Even if you format the HDD you will not get to it. Whats required is a low level format, which is done by booting off a floppy into DOS, "Your brand of HDD" web site is the only place to get the software to carry out a low level format. If you don’t know how don’t do it you could end up with a faulty HDD.

Best thing is to buy a new HDD and start with a fresh install then use the old HDD as your scratch disk.

Do I can search a well known identification string onto HDD to find the exact area where adobe stored its own data?
Do I can reset only interesting data with a disk editor (like acronis disk editor)?
If I installed Adobe in the default directory "c:\Program files\Adobe…" I need to search data only in C: partition…Is this correct?

Try using wincs3clean from adobe. You cannot do a second attempt at install until everything is cleaned out of the registry files. I had to use level 2 clean before i could get the trial version to install.

I’ve already tried but the problem is another, isn’t a license deactivation problem but a technical one: there is a path not set correctly, for ALM install library (s. the log)

So lets get this straight!

You downloaded the compressed file from Adobe.

You then expanded the compressed file to the default folder – which is on the desktop.

You then, without any alterations, run setup out of that desktop folder, Adobe CS3. This folder should contain 3 folders and 3 files one of those files is Setup. (winbootstrapper not included).

C:\Documents and Settings\Rob\Desktop\Adobe CS3\Photoshop\Adobe CS3

the folder properties 525MB with 245 Files 37 Folders (that included Winbootstrapper – mine has 2 files 1856K and 599K)

is this correct on your PC?????

the folder properties 525MB with 245 Files 37 Folders (that included Winbootstrapper – mine has 2 files 1856K and 599K)

is this correct on your PC?????
not at all: folder C:\Documents and Settings\Rob\Desktop\Adobe CS3\Photoshop\Adobe CS3 is 502MB (526,824,406 byte) 279 files 37 folders inside that there are 4 files setup.exe, winbootstrapper1.cab (499K or 511,676bytes), deplyment.xml and winbootstrapper.msi (1856K) and three folders payloads redist and resources
the tryout I downloaded is Italian version, may be different from your. But I suppose the core of my problem was a missing path setting of the "ALMInstallLibFileKey " property. I remember you the two logs I produced with 2 installation processes on two different PC (WinXP professional). the first log come from a failed installation and the second one from a correct installation and the differences are:
