Creating YouTube Logo Shape in Photoshop

Hi,

Could somebody please explain how one would go about creating a 'TV' shape, like the one that YouTube.com uses in their logo?

Create a "shape layer", using the "shape tool", and then apply different "styles" to it. The text can be done with a white text layer, or a text layer set to "knockout". (terms in quotes are in the PS manual) --

just looked at youtube logo

shape tool on fill pixels (red)
rounded rectangle
use layer effects to get the 3-d look (pillow emboss? inner shadow etc) text tool on mask

I don't think a rounded rectangle is quite the right starting shape as the sides of the TV are still a bit curved and
the curvature in the corners is not constant radius. You can get pretty close by drawing an ellipse of the same width
and height as the TV rectangle, then extending the direction lines until they meet at what would be the corners of a
hard rectangle that just covered the TV shape (I found it slightly better if the direction lines actually crossed a
little, but I was looking at a fairly small rastorised YouTube logo, so you might want to experiment to get the most
satisfactory shape). Then layer effects as Katwoman says...
