Shortcut to deselect text?

Hello,
This would be a huge convenience factor. I have the shortcut guide and did a search on this forum but no answer. I know CTL+D deselects a selection but I'd like to know if a shortcut exists in PS 7 to deselect text.

The problem is when laying down text with the text tool and you want to select say "V" the selection tool to move it around or go to another tool you have to do it manually because if you press "V" it will just type V in the text box.

Can't you just move the cursor away from the text and it will become the move tool, then click and move.

Is CTRL-ENTER what you are looking for?

true. not once it's applied though.

I believe that:
CTRL-ENTER is equivalent to clicking the check mark ["tick" to fellow Brits]. ESC is equivalent to clicking the cross.

Both get you out of the text.

And the enter for the numeric keypad works too

Thanks Colin, pure genious!! CTL+ENTER works great. I wish adobe would have included ALL the shortcuts with photoshop. There are quite a few i had to learn or ask about.

No it doesn't. It just undoes the last text operation. Try this:
1) Enter some text and commit it.
2) Click on the text and make an edit - change soem and add some.
3) Hit ESC.

You should now be back where you were after step (1), with all the step (2) changes removed.

I find it very easy to use the Enter form the bottom right of the keyboard...
