scanned old picture but it came out too grainy

Hello,

I'm trying to enlarge an old picture, but when I scann it, the scanner picks up the texture of the paper for the old days. Is there a technique/trick to smooth this process. It looks way to grainy when I print it in a larger size.

Any tutorials on this?

Thanks in advance

You may be better off trying to photograph it under a light that does not accent the texture. Scanners tend to really exaggerate the surfaces of these types of papers.

I would use a bit of Gaussian Blur, then Edge sharpen.

I have worked with photoshop for about 10 years....do a lot of restoration. If you would like to scan the image at 1200 dpi and put it on a cd so i can work with it I will be happy to help you.

That would be great. I'm not home right now, but as soon as I get home I can do it. Would it be better for you if I post here a link to download the picture from the internet. If not where do I send the CD.

Thanks for your help.

p.s., If it is easier for you, you can just tell me some of the steps you take, and I'll do it myself. Last thing I want is to cause anybody more work.
