When I try to launch Photoshop 6.0 I get an error message:
Could not initialize Photoshop because the ICC profile is invalid
Does anyone know what this means? How can I fix it?

It means what it says - there is a bad ICC profile on your HDD. Most probably it will be the monitor profile.
Run Adobe Gamma from Control Panel, select the sRGB profile as your starting point, change the text in the description field and then follow the on screen instructions. Finally SAVE TO A NEW FILENAME (or you will overwrite your sRGB profile!)

How do I run Adobe Gamma? I got to the Control Panel, but I didn't know what to click on next. I have Windows XP. Can you help me?

Make sure you are logged in as Administrator and set Windows to Classic view. There will be an icon in C/Panel for Adobe Gamma
