Help Unlocking Layers for Adobe Photoshop 7.0.1

Hello I just wanted to know how can I unlock layers on Adobe Photoshop 7.0.1 my computer is windows 98. I have 128 RAM. One day when I was starting a new document the layers started to get locked. So can anyone help me?

One day when I was starting a new document the layers started to get locked. When you start a new Document the Background is always locked. To unlock it you must convert it to a Layer. Double click in the layer in the Palette and give it a name.

Since you say layers , I assume you have more than one and one is locked. Background layer cannot be unlocked as was posted.

But if you do need to unlock a layer , say something someone sent you with a locked layer, open you layers box under window in the top tool box.Click to the layer you want and then click the small lock in this box. This will unlock or lock a layer.
