How to batch print multiple images at 6x4 or 7x5 ?

Is this possible via the contact sheet automated process ? If so, how do you set the image size ? If there are other methods, please advise....

Easy in CS, not others... set contact sheet to 8x12in and images to 2x2, turn filename and autospacing off. Still not so logical, maybe that's the next version...

Otherwise, XP default print does an OK job (select multiple files, right click, print), or thumbs plus etc

But this doesn't let you specify the size....could be a5 or 7x5 or 6x4

Seems to me that what the world needs is software that will intelligently fit photos to letter-size sheets to minimize paper wastage.

For example, if I'm printing 4x6 prints, I want the software to figure out that 3 will fit on each sheet: 2 vertical and 1 horizontal. The software should take care of EVERYTHING automatically.

Doing this manually by setting sizes, rotating and moving images on the sheet is a pain.

Does anything do this already?

There is only ONE real way to print photos in my opinion. It is Qimage from (http://www.ddisoftware.com/qimage/)

It can handle any size image you want to print on any size paper. Just set it and drop your pics on the paper. If it takes more than one sheet, it knows and spools it up. It will auto crop them it it needs to, or you can crop them yourself. Either way, the original file is NOT cropped, just the "print" will be.

Ohh yeah, if you set up a template you like, Qimage will let you save it. Did I mention that it saves your printer perferences too for it?

Qimage is worth as much as PS in my workflow process, in my opinion.......

Perhaps it would be better for you the professional to answer the question, instead of questioning an answer that works and is a product that has been around for years, used by many folks to perform exactly what the original poster wanted....

Sounds like an answer to the question, "What is spam, really?"

spam
1. (From Hormel's Spiced Ham, via the Monty Python "Spam" song) To post irrelevant or inappropriate messages to one or more Usenet newsgroups, mailing lists, or other messaging system in deliberate or accidental violation of netiquette.

Now you know what it means, fits your posts.

Qimage happens to be an excellent program, have you ever used it? This news group is supposed to be to get answers to reasonable questions, you have not contributed.
