Plugin shortcuts dont work in Photoshop CS

For some reason, I can not use the plugin shortcut trick. This is really irritating me because I have a few plugins (including AutoFX ones) which have many extra files, and I would really hate to have to seperate all these files from their respective plugins. Photoshop CS takes nearly 15 minutes (!) to start because of this, and my preferred solution would be to put the plugin folder elsewhere and use shorcuts. Ive tried moving several plugins out of the Photoshop CS/plug-ins folder and then created a shortcut there, but they just dont show up at all in the filters menu when I do this. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

Just in case, some simple system specs: winxp pro, p4 2ghz, 640mb ram.

umm, i didn't know that was even possible. but i do know you can select an alternate (second) filter/plugins folder in the options.
