Problem Viewing Files in Other Applications

Hello everyone,
This is my first posting on here, so apologies if I seem a novice. I have 2 versions of Photoshop - 5.0 Limited Edition and Elements 2.0 and I have the same problem with both. I work on a file in Photoshop and get it exactly as I want it, and then save it as a JPEG file. If I open the file again in Photoshop, everything is fine and exactly as I saved it. But if I open the same JPEG file in another application (such as ACDsee, IrfanView, or if I upload it to a webpage) then the file is much darker and much more colour saturated than it was when I saved it in Photoshop. As you can imagine this is very infuriating as I cannot present the files the way I want to!
Has anyone ever experienced the same problem? And if so, what do I need to do to ensure the same files looks exactly the same when viewed in another application to that which I have saved in Photoshop?
Many thanks,
Steve.

You may need to calibrate your monitor again or you may also may need to go into and set your color profiles. That is my suggestion at least it may be wrong
