How to make skin look young?

I can blur away the wrinkles; but the young people's skin looks like shining, in addition to not having wrinkles. How do I adjust the tone so that the skin looks young? Thx.

Are you making pictures or embalming? :)

Create a layer on top and try smart-blur. It's a sensitive control, so try a number of different metrics. Then change its transparency, then color, then remove the background and hair to let the actual through.

Good luck with that one. It's the reason I still use old soft focus portrait lenses. ;)

It must be that editors keep this information pretty close to the vest. I see examples all the time in magazines and on the web of people with poor complexions made to look young and attractive. It may be that pros have libraries of textures they blend but I have not found any information about it. Then again, I could be looking in the wrong places.

The techniques used are neither rocket science nor hidden, as they are taught in PS courses with some regularity. Probably some good web resources, but I don't have any links.

Gaussian blur on a layer or several is often used, after cloning out or healing blemishes.
