How get good color with Microsoft Word

528 views10 repliesLast post: 11/29/2003
Maybe I'm using the wrong software to print photos - but I often use Word because I can get different sizes on one sheet of paper and I can also position them the way I want. If I continue to use Word, how can I be assured of getting good color? I should mention that my Epson 3200 Perfection Pro scanner, me LaCie Monitor and Epson 1280 printer all have ICM profiles. The problem is, I don't know how to apply a profile with Word. Also, how can I calibrate Word so that the fonts print the same color as I see them on m my LaCie? Or, is there another piece of software that I should use for printing that will give me the same flexibility that I'm used to with Word? Thanks........

That's like asking how to get good photos out of a disposable camera. At some point, you'll realize that it is what it is.

You should try using Photoshop.

Word is not an imaging application. This is a Photoshop group. You must know what you are going to hear - don't use Word.

Understood. So how do I use Photoshop when I want to make maore than one photo on a sheet of paper - perhaps each photo is of a different size also?

P.S.: I'm trying to make the most use of my paper - so I'll want to move
the photos around and maybe even rotate them.

Go to Help
Photoshop Help
How To tips
How to print Photos
you will then find these two optios which should address your problems!

1. Print multiple photos on a page
2. Resize an image for printing

If you are printing the same image, but as different sizes on on page, then look under File-Automate-Picture Package. There are several options.

Otherwise, if they are different images, then drag them onto an open document, size as you wish, drag them into place and be happy.

You can't.

You can't. Word does not understand or use profile-based color management (or any other color management).

Also, how can I calibrate Word so that the fonts print the same color as I see them on m my LaCie?

You can't.

Hmmm.... I'm going to stick my neck out here;

I don't see any "How To Tips" in PS7 Help.

Am I missing something obvious?

You probably have a pirated copy of Photoshop.
