3.8 GB swap file?

Hi! Is it normal for Photoshop CS to create a 3.8 GB swap file? I have 2 GB RAM but when I try to open a 16MB psd file with about 100 layers, Photoshop CS creates a swap file that's about 3.8 GB. Is that normal? Thanks

Sounds about right. Photoshop is not using all 2GB of RAM. Windows is using a nice chunk as well as anything else you have open while Photoshop is open. It is not unusual for Photoshop to create large swap files. Especially in this case with 100 layers.

You start to wonder though, when you get the message scratch disk is full and there is a 230Gb scratch file :) I hate how photoshop has allowed ppl to go past the 30000 pixels mark.
