White becomes pale blue

Hi. A problem for me in PS7. White has started showing as pale blue: the CMYK readings are all 0, the RGB readings are all 255, and it claims to be #FFFFFF. but it looks pale blue. I usually show rulers - they are white as usual, so the blue shows pretty clearly and differently. I've uninstalled PS, but the problem persists in the reinstalled version. I'd be grateful if anyone has any ideas...

Run Adobe Gamma.

Go to "Color Settings" (that's under "Edit" menu, also Ctrl+Shift+K) and see if "Intent" in the "Conversion Options" frame is set to "Absolute Colorimetric". If that's the case, set it to "Relative Colorimetric".

Also, check that you're using the 'right' profiles for your working spaces. If you're using some unusual profiles or inadequate ones, that could also be the root of your problems. Stick to standard profiles until you're comfortable with CMS.

Other than that, it could be that you've miscalibrated the monitor.
