The cursor icon stops to change in Photoshop

The cursor icon should change when in Photoshop you use a tool and move the cursor across a processable picture.

But on my computer sometimes it stops to change suddenly though all Photoshop tools work properly. To restore the normal work of Photoshop you should rerun Windows XP, it's not enough to rerun only the Photoshop. Therefore I suppose that the bug is in Windows, not in Photoshop. Whether can somebody prompt me, where and how should I correct it? Thanks in advance

If you have CS2, look in the CD's goodies folder for the following .reg files and see if the "ON" version of the .reg file address the problem.

Some display adapter drivers can cause cursor malfunctions in Adobe Photoshop CS2, such as the cursor not changing from one tool icon to another. If a driver causes problems with the cursor in Photoshop, turning on this registry key gives Photoshop more cursor control, helping to solve the problem. I have CS (1) do you think I can change my cursor issue with that function? Would that be in the registry of Windows?
Others have told me their brush size cursor will change colors over different color areas of the image. mine won't . it is always the same gray which hides so easily on studio gray backgrounds or BW images.

Unfortunately, I think this is unlikely. The option affects driver handling of the normal cursor, and not the new "color changing cursor", which is supported by software in CS2, and wouldn't be affected by a registry setting.

Others have told me their brush size cursor will change colors over different color areas of the image. mine won't . it is always the same gray which hides so easily on studio gray backgrounds or BW images.

If it's any consolation, the color changing cursor burns up cpu and causes the mouse to move in a jerky manner - and it's not a complete solution because it is still invisible over certain patterns such as random noise and hatch patterns.
