CS: File Browser Opened Slows Performance

I'm using CS and noticed often the application would slow to a crawl. Leaving File Browser open on the desktop seems to be part of the issue, when I close it things improve.

Any one else notice this?

Also, suggestion that File Browser be a separate application or at least be able to open it off the main monitor.

Yes it has been discussed here. I also noticed the slow down when the FB is open. I follow someone's suggestion here and use Alt + dbl click to open my files and that automatically closes the FB. That works for me. That way I am not haunted by the slow down and get work done.

I had the same "problem". The reason is, that FB tries to cache all picture information ( high res Thumbs, Metadata ... ) in the background.

FB gets much faster if you let FB cache once all you pictures on the drive. In File browser is a function called "cache subfolders ... " start it and let it run over night. After that FB behaives "normal".

The file Browser was fast in PS7, and I am not sure what are its new features and if they warrent the slow down and new limitations in FB. Personally I do love the FB, but not how it is just stuck in PS and also in the PS' main window. Stich is right that "cache" will help improve the performance. Also the histogram palette being open slows things down on my end.
