I would like to draw a simple rectangle, with a specified border with, and no fill. How?

Same for circle, polygon, etc…

Steve, if you are using shapes, select the middle icon out of the group of three on the left side of the options bar. That give you a path which you can then stroke or fill or turn into a selection.
