Sampling a texture using Clone Tool?

I have a photo that has a texture I'd like to duplicate on another image.

I seem to remember that PS has a way to sample an area and use that sample to spray/stamp/brush the texture. But I can't seem to find it.

The closest I can find is the Stamp & Clone tools which seem to work only on the same image (rely on offset or such to transfer the color/texture to another area).

How can I get this texture onto another image?

I have a different version of PS but I would do it like this.

In the original picture select an area with the texture (if irregular use the lasso) and copy that.

In the new picture add a layer and paste the sample. Then you can use the clone tool to spread it all over the page. When satisfactory, reduce the layers.

one way to do it is open both images
click sample on image 1 and it will paint/clone directly onto image 2

Sounds good. Can you explain in a bit more detail? Which tools? What steps?

What do you mean by that? That nothing happened, or that it didn't do what you'd hoped?

If the latter, try working on a layer that's in the Luminosity blending mode and/or partly transparent.

One way you could do this is by making this texture a pattern, If you look up pattern making in the help file, there is a host of information but basically you would:-
Select an area of the image you wish to use with the marquee tool - choose edit, define pattern.
Deselect the area - now select the area you wish to fill by whatever means you like4 - select paint bucket tool and from the Fill menu on the options bar, select pattern and choose your new pattern from the list of options and adjust tolerance and opacity to suit.

well why not I just tried it and it works quite simply

select clone tool
open 2 images
sample image 1 by alt click the area you want to copy, select aligned or non aligned, check if you want one layer or all layers (maybe you sampled from an empty one?)
put the clone tool on image 2 and spray, paint with clone tool, check brush settings for type of brush (check opacity, fade, scatter, blend mode, etc)
