Hello,

Just in case anyone is still looking for this, I have created a patch Now you don’t need to install PS7 to get the thumbnails with PSCS!

I posted about it in the Adobe Photoshop for Windows forum.

Hello All,

I am not an Adobe engineer, but I have created a patch that install the proper keys to get thumbnails to work. It took a while to find al of them, and I ruined one Photoshop CS install in the process. I have working patch which is working on 3 of my home machines. Keep in min that this patch is unofficial.

The archive includes all the files you need. It also include installation and unsinstallation instructions.

Feel free to distribute this patch to anyone who you like.

Hi Comrade!
I seek a solution to the lack of thumbnail view in Windows Explorer fo Photoshop CS files. You posted a link in this forum, to a patch you ha created to provide this feature, but it is a broken link. Could you point us in the right direction for actually getting solution to this problem?

There is zip-file with psicon.dll which you need to copy to C:\Progra Files\Common Files\Adobe\Shell and psicon.reg with all registry entrie for making psd thumbnails.

You can add registration just for thumbnails

This post is to sum up a lot of the previous posts so that it is easie for people to get the patch.

Issue

Adobe removed the ability to view the thumbnails of PSD files from PsC because of a bug in Windows. Unfortunately, they do not offer th ability to choose weather or not you want that feature. Many people including myself never came across any problems with the thumbnai viewing in Ps 6 or 7.

Solution
————————————–
I have created a patch to enable, and disable PSD thumbnails i explorer. This will let you see the icon thumbnails, thumbnails i thumbnail folder view, and thumbnails in dialog boxes. The archiv includes the dll, which should only be used if you previously owned copy of Ps 7. It also comes with an Install and an Uninstall.

Here is a list of all the people who have tried the patch successfully
