Need help creating beer foam

I recieved a job that requires I create a big mug of beer. The mug was no problem but the foam is difficult.

This will print in two spot colors, black and yellow. The actual foam will be the color of the paper, it is the outline that will print in black. I have tried a dissolved outer glow, but still doesn't look authentic. Maybe I should go to a bar tonight and do a little "research."

go to a bar tonight and do a little "research."

That's where I'd start. Bring a digital camera with you and take some pictures and work off of those. I'd drop them into grayscale and add a spot channel for the coloring, save as a DCS 2.0 file and work from there.

How about a contest to see who can supply you with the best image? This is probably a subject close to most of our hearts and that would create creative interest.

"But honey, I'm just working on a project for this fellow".

Proper research for good head requires that you purchase Guinness.

And make sure the bartender KNOWS how to pour that Guinness.

Any beer related topics should be posted in the lounge if you're looking for experts on the subject.

You don't pour Guinness, you pull it.

I think we have gotten a little off topic, but I am thankful for your ideas. Jerry Jensen had a great one to turn it into a contest. I have gotten to a point where I am almost satisfied with what I have, but if anyone is interested you can email me .jpg versions of your two color beer mugs.

I can post a link tomorrow of all the files I get and anyone who wants to can vote for their favorite. The winner will get lots of respect and admoration from many Photoshop Windows Forum visitors.
