I think it’s because Apple pioneered in digital imaging and all or most of the
pros still use it. (I have a PC)

For good reason.

It makes them feel good.

To use a OS that works. 🙂

Thanks for so ably supporting my point, bud. I see you haven’t changed a bit.

They have the same amount of people using them as ever. MORE people are just using computers and becoming Windroids.

Your usually computer user doesn’t by Macs. That would be a overkill.

It would be like buying your 17 year old son a new BMW.

He wouldn’t know or appreciate the difference.

Not that market share means much. Porsche has less than 1% of the car market.

LOL I was just making a pun… 🙂

I’ve been in typesetting and prepress since
the I286 days. It’s just by chance I went with
PC and not MAC. I see the benefits of both.
And I think there is room for both.

Yes it is true. But, on the other hand there are so few Mac users that even if everyone of them ways to steal Photoshop it wouldn’t hurt Adobe’s bottom line. 5% or less market share makes it kind of hard to cause any real damage.

But Mac users constitute much more than 5% of Adobe’s customers. For the most recent quarter (2004Q1), Mac users accounted for 29% of Adobe’s total revenues. Digital Imaging and Video, of which Photoshop is a part, accounted for 27% of total revenues. I can’t find breakouts of revenues and earnings for Photoshop alone, but I suspect that it constitutes a big chunk of the Digital Imaging and Video group; and considering how it dominates its product category, Photoshop probably provides a disproportionate share of Adobe’s bottom-line profits.

Only a guess, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Mac Photoshop sales accounted for close to half of Photoshop revenues and 5% of Adobe’s earnings.

AHah I love how Windows users hate admitting it has problems.

Nothing to do with ignorance or bias.

Well I take that back. I am biased. It wasn’t originally there though. That bias was formed in the many years I have had to run Windows. Only for it to puke and die.

Ah, Zim. Snipping the part of my message that notes I spend a lot of time fixing problems for Mac shops won’t make that fact go away.

Right. That’s why you had to make something up.

I never claimed Macs never needed fixed. I snipped it because it was a straw-man arguement.

Not to mention Apple has more than a 5% share in Photoshop. It’s just about 50/50

There are just more PC users stealing it. Most shops that do buy it use Macs.

Be careful with your own overactive imagination! The only thing I see (from a quick scan of the article) is "When you look at our overall revenue, or percentage of revenue, we get somewhere between 22% and 25% of our business from Macintosh customers or software that runs on the Mac". That is the OVERALL business, including Premiere and Photoshop Album (not available on the Mac) not just Photoshop. In other words: Photoshop could still be 50%. I’m not saying it is, but the URL doesn’t prove it isn’t either.
