Color setting for Adobe Photoshop 7.0.1

Hello,

I have purchased an Epson Stylus Photo 820 printer and when I use Photoshop, the colors I see on the screen do not match the printer's output.

Could anyone please help me with "Color Settings" in Photoshop. Specifically, I need to know what setting to put in the
'Working Spaces' RGB: ?
'Color Management Policies RGB: ?
or any other setting in that dialog box.
I am using an IBM clone with Windows 2000 Professional for the O.S.

We don't send emails 'cause that would defeat the purpose of the forum , namely, to learn from other people's stupid questions ! <G> OOPs. I didn't say stupid question , did I ? Anyway, if you check out Ian Lyons' website, <http://www.computer-darkroom.com/> , you will notice a tutorial section dealing with Color settings for Photoshop and printing in Photoshop . The printing tutorials even use the Epson Photo printer drivers, so you will see just what you need . The Color management settings in Photoshop are a seperate tutorial, but its all there and more.

Your question isn't stupid at all. It's just that Color Management, which is the umbrella name for what you have run into, is a big, nasty quagmire which one can (and many people do) devote many many hours of otherwise useful time trying to figure out. On the web, you could do a search with the terms "color management," "color profiles," "digital workflow," or aomthing similar. The Luminos Landscape site http://www.luminous-landscape.com/ has some good info + links, and of course there are zillions of books out there. Possibly the best I've seen is "Mastering Digital Printing" by Harald Johnson. It' not really possible at this point in the development of digital printing, to cover the topic in just a few mintures. BBe prepared to spend some time. Good luck.
