I'm looking at getting on of the Canon IDE scanners but can not sort out which one will be compatible with Photoshop CS and OS X 10.3 for image importing.

Any suggestions?

Yes. I suggest you visit the Canon web site. Click on the scanner you wish to investigate, then click the link for "Mac OS X Compatibility" and it will tell you exactly what you need to know. ------------------

I do before posting this and it didn't tell me what I needed to know or I wouldn't have asked the question.

The site indicates which scanners are compatible with the various versions of OS X. The bundled software uses the same method for scanning from within an application as Photoshop; i.e., Select Twain source, and then acquire (or "Import" in Photoshop).

If the device has drivers that support your operating system and a standard Twain driver, why would it not work with Photoshop CS? ------------------

Go the the Canon web site and try downloading drivers. If there are OS X drivers, then you can use it with your Mac.

When I buy hardware for my Macs, I never look at the box to see if it will work with OS X. I find the item I like and then go to a store computer that it connected to the net and find out if there are drivers.

I connect with scanner through PS CS.
