I have several thousand tiff files which I am making thumbnails of and I would like to preserve the original names of the files, which have spaces (in the filenames). However Photoshop replaces the spaces in the filenames with dashes. Is there any way to avoid this?

In SFW OutPut Settings/Saving Files, uncheck Unix and Mac filename compatibility.

I have tried this but there are no options such as this in SFW. I also made sure that the Unix and Mac boxes were unchecked under batch processing but it has not helped. Dashes still remain instead of of spaces in the filenames. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Greg,

there are no options such as this in SFW<<

Yes there are.

Click on the arrow next to the Preset box. Edit Output Settings.

Select Saving Files in the second drop-down.

On a side-note, you do know that spaces are illegal in URI’s don’t you?
