Could someone just tell me how I create a curved line?

It doesn’t seem possible to edit a line this way in photoshop

Use the Pen tool. Make your curved line and stroke it with a brush, pencil, whatever. You can do this from the Paths palette or by choosing your brush and hitting Enter.
