I don't think PSD files *can* be viewed as thumbnails like JPGs and GIFs. The latter two are native to Windows. The Explorer generates thumbs for those formats (as well as for TIFFs, PNGs, and BMPs). PSDs have an embedded thumb which *is* displayed by the Explorer, but in most cases those thumbs are too small for comfortable viewing. I suggest getting a decent thumbs browser (XnView, ThubsPlus, anyone? ;) and view the files with it.

Windows XP displays .psd file thumbnails with no problem assuming there are visible layer(s) in the image. The size is not adjustable though AFAIK. Irfanview has an adjustable thumbnail view size feature. It's helpful to be specific about your OS, etc. when posting. I believe your post just mentioned Windows which is pretty vague.
