rectangular marquee tool has rounded corners

When I use the retangular marguee tool the area on my picture comes out `rounded` and not `square` rectangular, how do I fix this. thanks

You have a feather on the marquee. Set it to zero in the Options Bar.

See it? select the Marquee tool, then look on the second row: Feather. Set this to zero ("0 px") to get 90-degree angles, anything else will round the corners. 250 max. You don't have to type the px.

Extra free hint from your Uncle Lar -- hold the Shift key down while stretching your marquee to get perfect squares instead of rectangles (rectangular tool) or perfect circles (elliptical tool).
