Update Photoshop 7.0 to 7.01?

I am trying to update my Photoshop 7.0 to 7.01. Downloaded the update file from Adobe website. Disabled all virus, firewall etc. s/w All goes well until it wants confirmation of the PS location - and it then says it can't find the 7.0 installation. BUT it is the correct directory! What gives? Any suggestions? Thanks.

You'll need to call Adobe.

If it's anything like Microsoft they expect you to have the original CD in the drive

If you're running a legal version of PS, call Adobe.

If not, buy one.

Adobe maintains a list of serial numbers which are known to be pirated/bootlegged. If your Photoshop 7 install is using one of these serial numbers, or if you got your Photoshop 7 from a "cheap OEM" fraud site, then the updater won't work.

If you have a legitimate copy of Photoshop, legally purchased, with a valid and legal serial number, then call Adobe--they'll be happy to help you.

There is NO software that requires you to disable your firewall. That's just stupid. It takes about 20 seconds for an unfirewalled copy of Windows to be infected by remote viruses (if unpatched). If software tells you to turn off your firewall, dont use it. Too dangerous.

There is NO software that requires you to disable your firewall. That's just stupid. It takes about 20 seconds for an unfirewalled copy of Windows to be infected by remote viruses (if unpatched). If software tells you to turn off your firewall, dont use it. Too dangerous.

I'd agree, but you can do it if you disconnect first (yes, it's a pain and I've never done it, but it is a solution).

It did not ask me to disable the firewall. I did that together with anti-virus, and everything else I could think of to solve the problem.
