My son bought a lap top computer from someone at his college. The big selling point for him, was the Photoshop V7 that was already installed on the computer. However, it would seem that this program was of a questionable pedigree.

I’ve deleted the program using Windows XP ‘Remove Program’ and for his birthday this coming week, bought him a full version of CS.

Will I have any porblems installing CS? Even with V7 deleted? Maybe with something left over in the registry, etc ? Can anyone offer some insite?

Thanks in advance.

A "previously owned" laptop? I’d be thinking in terms of running every virus and spy removal program first before worrying about PS. Personally, I’d erase the disks and reinstall all software.

You should have no problem with PS. After my previous PC bit the dust, I went straight to installing PS CS even though I had the upgrade CD. I was concerned that I’d have to go through the entire sequence of versions of PS from my original purchase.

install the application.
During installation when asked enter any 24-digits serial (yes, installshield has been precracked to accept any serial, but it has to be 24-digits).

After installation is finished copy both files from Crack.zip to the installation dir.
NOTE – You have all prolly seen
Adobe_Photoshop_CS_v8.0-PARADOX and CRACKFiX released later in which even PDX mentioned that their version might not be the real final boxed version, we can’t say for sure if it was or if it wasnt, but we know for sure that our version which comes from retail CD is newer.

First thing, Help > System info:

PDX version: Adobe Photoshop Version: 8.0 (8.0×104),

our release: Adobe Photoshop Version: 8.0 (8.0×118),

so as u can see our build is newer.

Second thing, main files differences:

PDX Photoshop.exe dated 09/18/2003
MD5 : A21B30BEE39874774F03EF5CB67C45F4

Our Photoshop.exe dated 10/17/2003
MD5 : 6B7B52EE476B368B29AE46FBC3175239

PDX Photoshop.dll dated 09/18/2003
MD5 : CE39166A3AF4B25CE79789A5D8BADA5C

Our Photoshop.dll dated 10/17/2003
MD5 : F733F7115DF6C84C09F48238FA9D5866

And finally last probably the most important thing, PDX Photoshop has a timebomb which cause it to expire on February 2004, take a look at screenshot included in our release or move your system date and try it yourself. It could mean that their release was not final, as well as the fact that in PDX version Adobe ImageReady doesnt work, on every OS we tested it it simply quits when you load it.

Sorry, I’m not looking for a ‘cracked’ version of CS, I just got rid of one for PS V7.

What I’m looking for is advice on the installation of the factroy sealed, store bought version of CS, on a laptop that had the cracked PS V7 deleted.

In my experience, this should not matter at all.
But I agree about cleaning or reformatting the drive… if you are concerned about PS with registry, etc,
who knows what else may lurk in the shadows of that hd…

Once you get PS installed, be sure and set your prefs and the scratch disk, etc, for best performance.
(works best if you have another partition or drive… yet another reason to reformat and partition)

If you have the full version of CS with a clean new serial number (ie, not an upgrade version, but a full new version) you will have absolutely no problems. If you have the CS upgrade you may have a problem if the V7 on the computer is what you counted on for a valid serial number.

Weird, I have no problem with the upgrade and I have both full and upgrade…mind you their both legit/purchased. I hear alot from others that have CS but my guess is that they DL’d it from the net and ran into trouble.
Good luck with the full install!

The PS CS installed just fine. Not a single hint of a problem. I didn’t reformat but did install and run the latest Nortons, Spybot, and Adaware. Lots of nasties, but all clean now. BTW over my sons protest, I also got rid of 10-15 gigs of porn. ; < )

Thanks to those who responded.

Did he buy the laptop for the porn or Photoshop? You may have wasted your money.
