Is there a way in PS7 to brighten a dark photo for editing purposes, then return it back to to the original darkness after it's been cleaned up?
I'm trying to salvage some photos where half of the person's face is in shadow, and some dark blemishes/pockmarks need to be fixed. When I print the un-edited photos the blemishes are very apparent, but on the monitor I can't see them and am not able to fix them before printing. I'm working with an ancient monitor on someone elses's computer - is there a way to do this without changing their monitor calibration? (Also, any hints for fixing/avoiding pockmarks on face?)
If I go to Image - Adjustments - Brightness/Contrast, I have to move the brightness slider by almost +80 to see what I'm doing. When I'm done smoothing out the blemishes, if I move the brightness slider in the other direction to -80, the image is nowhere near the original appearance.
