How can I add more fonts to ps7.0

I have over 500 new fonts I want to add so I can use them when working inside photoshop 7.0, but I can only use the default ones.

You need to install the fonts so Windows recognizes them. Then Photoshop will see them also.

As Larry implied, PS does not "own" fonts - they are installed in the operating system [via control panel, if I recall]. Once installed, they are available to all applications.

I've tried that before, and I can get some fonts to show up in PS (I'm in 7.0) and some to show up in PageMaker, but sometimes not both. Any clue as to why it works that way?

There is a PS control file that sometimes gets corrupt and need deleting. Can't remember its name. You might do a search on this forum on font issues.

you need to place the font files in the right folder. usually (c:Windows/Fonts) that way all software that uses fonts will be able to access all those fonts in there.

thanks for the feedback I will try it all. And no it isnt that 500 for $5 fonts. These were all hand picked by a friend over a long period of time.

"These were all hand picked by a friend over a long period of time."

And you ARE buying your own licenses for these fonts, RIGHT?

Unless they're freeware, your friend can't just legally give you copies of the fonts; you must buy them for yourself. Just thought I'd point that out in case you didn't know.

I think that only TT (true type) fonts show up in PS, but Illus usues postscript fonts also, that might be why Illus shows more fonts.

Not so, Mike. PostScript fonts should be just as available in PhotoShop as in any other application
