Will Image ready allow me to import an AVI or MPEG file of substancial size? I keep trying to import and AVI file of 216 megabites.
I am using Adobe 5.5, Windows XP, 512Ram, and Pent.4… 2.3g processor

I am not sure what the file size limit is but I would use a program like virtual dub to remove the unwanted frames first. There is no way you could possibly want to use the entire file for an animated GIF anyway.

What are you doing with the files?

Are the large because of the frame resolution, length of the overall video or all of the above.

I just thought i could make slight improvements to the video quality with Image Ready, but I suspect the program is not set up to do that.

Look to After Effects <http://www.adobe.com/products/aftereffects/main.html> or Premiere <http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/main.html>. Depending on what you want to do you may be able to find a free or low cost video editor to do what you want.
