PS-CS Shortcuts not working (non-cracked, I read the FAQ too.)

Before you start accusing me of using a cracked Photoshop, let me tell you that the one I have is NOT illegally acquired.

None of the shortcuts work, I have checked the shortcut options menu and they all appear to be in proper order. My CTRL key does work, for instance I can change the functions of tools by pressing it. I also re-installed the drivers for my keyboard, and they still don't work. (my keyboard is kinda no-name, that may be the cause).

These are my system specs copied directly from Photoshop itself:

Adobe Photoshop Version: 8.0 (8.0x104)
Operating System: Windows XP
Version: 5.1
System architecture: AMD CPU Family:6, Model:3, Stepping:0 with MMX, SSE Integer Processor speed: 701 MHz
Built-in memory: 192 MB
Free memory: 35 MB
Memory available to Photoshop: 170 MB
Memory used by Photoshop: 50 %
Image cache levels: 4
Use image cache for histograms: No
Serial number: ####################
Application folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS\ Temporary file path: C:\DOCUME~1\Steven\LOCALS~1\Temp\
Photoshop scratch has async I/O enabled
Scratch volume(s):
Startup, 15.9G, 8.98G free
Primary Plug-ins folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS\Plug-Ins\ Additional Plug-ins folder: not set
(I chose to not include plug-ins, it's just a big waste of space here.) Installed TWAIN devices:
WIA-Logitech QuickCam Web
WIA-UMAX Astra 3400
Logitech Camera

Can anyone help me out here?

Steven,

Did you notice in the FAQ that there are 2 known causes...if not using the activation crack, then possibly a keyboard driver that needs to be updated? If you have a Logitech Freedom keyboard specifically, that is one I recall being mentioned where a driver update corrected the problem, but others are likely affected also.

Daryl

I just downloaded new drivers, and installed them, still nothing.

I have an EZkey Smart Office Keyboard XP (Model 6000).

try using plain ol' vanilla generic MS 101/102 key keyboard drivers.

my computer> properties> hardware> device manager> keyboards. select yours. right click. properties. driver. update driver.

in the hardware update wizard, select "Install from a list or specified location (advanced)." Click next. select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install." Click next. On the next screen make sure "Show compatable hardware" is checked and select "Standard 101/102 key or microsoft natural ps2 keyboard"

Steven,

If you're satsfied with the performance of Photoshop for whatever sort of work you do, ignore this. But, just looking over your system info and assuming that this is not for a laptop (looks like it could be), then I just wanted to pass along the suggestion that you give serious thought to adding some memory. As it is, a system with only 192MB will be heavily taxed by both PS CS and WinXP, leaving little free space to work with if your images are sizeable at all. With that in turn requiring more use of the scratch disk, there will be quite a performance hit on Photoshop. Memory being as cheap as it is, I encourage you to consider adding some. 512MB might be a good minimum amount to use even if you could get by with a little less.

Regards,

Daryl

Photoshop works just fine for me, but since I can't seem to fix this problem with the shortcuts, I think I'll just revert back to version 7.0.

General question - why do some users have 8.0x104? My System info displays 8.0x118. Are there different numbers between the standalone, the CS Suite Standard, and the CS Suite Premium? Just curious.

Cheers,
Rose

and. . . why isn't there a system info under ImageReady? Can you only get image ready with Photoshop? Do all photoshops come packaged with it so they assume so the version of image ready will automaticaly match your version of Photoshop?

Cheers once more,
Rose

matrixrose, i think someone said 104 is a beta build. 118 is the final release.

used to be that IR was seperate. they merged it in ver. 5 or 6ish-about. :)

Adobe Photoshop Version: 8.0 (8.0x104)

You say it wasn't illegally aquired? Where did you get it?

Unless I missed something you have a beta copy.

Steven,

the one I have is NOT illegally acquired.....Adobe Photoshop Version: 8.0
(8.0x104)<<

That is a Beta version. So either you have been ripped-off and sold a pup or you are not being strictly honest in your statement.

Either way it is NOT a legal copy.......although that may not be a deliberate act by you.

And once again the OP disappears.
